🔥Sizzling Grumpy Meets Grumpy Bodyguard Romance 🔥
Shadow Burn is out NOW!
Hello, my lovely readers,
It’s release week for Shadow Burn, and I’m so excited for you to finally meet Jasper and Katherine.
This book has so many things I love in romantic suspense: a brilliant heroine who trusts documents more than people, a former SEAL tech genius who insists he doesn’t do fieldwork anymore, a conspiracy buried in old CIA files. You get forced proximity, grumpy-meets-grumpy chemistry, and one very opinionated cat named Priss who steals every scene she enters. 🐈
This is the first story I wrote after my eye surgery, and it was a labor of love. I rewrote the first chapter THREE times. (Please tell me you love the first chapter.) My son, Sam, had to help me while my eye was doing all kinds of gymnastics after the first failed surgery, and the subsequent follow-up surgery that also had complications.
But that’s all done now. I’m back working on my own and my final post-op appointment will be September 1st. My vision in my left eye is mostly restored and I should only need readers for glasses. I’m SO relieved.
So, you’ll understand why Shadow Burn holds a special place in my heart. It’s more than just a story for me; it’s part of my timeline from this very challenging year with my failing vision. It’s a mile marker that quietly says I made it. I got through the surgeries and complications and managed to write (with help).
And I’m extra happy to share this review:
★★★★★ “…Smart, fast-paced, and packed with great character dynamics, this book kept me flipping pages as fast as I could. An absolute must-read for fans of romantic suspense. The author is officially one of the best authors in this genre.”

Katherine Townsend doesn’t trust people. She trusts documents, archives, the quiet certainty of ink on paper. Ten years at the CIA taught her that words don’t lie—people do.
Jasper Perault doesn’t do fieldwork. The former SEAL turned tech specialist made that clear when he joined Shadow Point Security. Give him a screen and a problem to solve. Just don’t ask him to be someone’s bodyguard.
When Katherine hands him notebooks full of evidence about a conspiracy she can’t investigate without raising red flags, Jasper sees a straightforward consulting job. She sees the only man in Montana with the skills to keep her alive.
Because someone at the CIA wants her discovery to stay buried—and when a killer arrives in Blackridge, the tech consultant who doesn’t do fieldwork has to decide what matters more: the boundaries he’s built to keep himself safe, or the woman who makes him want to tear them down.
Click now to order this opposites-attract, grumpy-meets-grumpy romantic suspense, with a heroine who fights with facts and a hero who’d rather hack a server than hold a gun—until she’s the one in danger.
Thank you so much for reading, reviewing, preordering, sharing, and cheering on this series. Every release day feels special, but this one has an extra little spark for me. Jasper and Katherine were so much fun to write, and I hope you love their story as much as I do!
Happy reading,
Misty
